Jeremy Maher

Home Remodeling Executive and Author

Jeremy Maher is an American home remodeling company executive and author. He is the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Phoenix Home Remodeling, a design-build kitchen and bathroom remodeling company based in Chandler, Arizona, which he founded in 2017 with Ben Chesley and Mark Chesley.[3][4] He is the author of Remodel Without Regret, a homeowner's guide to planning a remodel, published in January 2026.[7]

Maher leads operations, process design, and the homeowner experience at Phoenix Home Remodeling, overseeing the company's planning-first, design-build approach to residential remodeling.[3] The company holds Arizona Registrar of Contractors license 313636, a B-3 General Remodeling and Repair Contractor classification, and has been an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau since March 2018.[13][14]

Early life and education [edit]

Maher was born in St. Charles, Missouri.[1] He earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Eastern Michigan University's Owen College of Business, completing the program in the mid-2000s.[2]

Career [edit]

Early career

Before founding Phoenix Home Remodeling, Maher worked in mortgage lending as a senior banker at Quicken Loans, now known as Rocket Mortgage, guiding homeowners through mortgage financing.[2] In March 2010 he founded Credit Repair Doctor, a personal finance and credit-improvement course.[2][20] He later worked as a development partner and manager at Infusionsoft, now known as Keap, a cloud-based CRM platform, where he worked on strategic partnerships until co-founding Phoenix Home Remodeling in April 2017.[2][20]

Founding Phoenix Home Remodeling

Maher, who lives in the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix, co-founded Phoenix Home Remodeling in 2017 with brothers Ben Chesley and Mark Chesley, after his own frustrating experience with a remodeling contractor whose price rose well past the original bid, an experience Maher says "leaves a bad taste in your mouth."[4][5] Maher was working at Infusionsoft at the time, where Ben Chesley was his manager; the two discussed starting a business together, and Mark Chesley, who had worked as a contractor in Chicago, joined as the third co-founder.[5] The company initially operated as a traditional bid-based contractor and briefly explored a focus on ADA-accessibility projects before settling on a design-build model centered on kitchens and bathrooms.[5] The design-build process completes feasibility, material selections, and 3D design, with fixed pricing set before construction begins.[3][4] Phoenix Home Remodeling serves homeowners throughout the Phoenix metro area, including Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Scottsdale, Queen Creek, Ahwatukee, Sun Lakes, and Laveen.[4]

Remodel Without Regret

In January 2026, Maher published Remodel Without Regret: How to Avoid Surprise Costs, Contractor Nightmares, and Costly Mistakes Before You Remodel, a homeowner's guide covering the planning, pricing, and construction stages of a remodel.[7][8] The book reached Amazon's bestseller list in the House Plans and Buildings and Construction categories within its first week of release.[8]

Approach and views [edit]

Maher frames remodeling risk as a planning problem rather than a construction problem, arguing that most disputes between homeowners and contractors originate in unclear scope, ballpark pricing, and vague schedules set before a project begins rather than in construction itself.[7] His stated approach sequences a project into three stages: design and 3D visualization, estimator-built fixed pricing, and construction managed through a homeowner portal with regular progress updates.[7][9]

He has discussed using artificial intelligence tools inside Phoenix Home Remodeling's operations to reduce repetitive administrative work and to support the company's sales process, including handling missed calls.[11]

Reception [edit]

Phoenix Home Remodeling has held an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau since March 2018 and has been named a Best of Houzz service award recipient every year from 2020 through 2026.[13][15] The company has been recognized by Ranking Arizona as a top contractor and has received awards from Expertise.com and other regional directories.[16] Phoenix Home Remodeling holds memberships in the National Association of the Remodeling Industry and the National Kitchen and Bath Association.[21]

Media and recognition [edit]

Maher was a guest on episode 24 of the Builder Stories podcast, hosted by Eric Fortenberry of JobTread, in an episode titled "Constantly Improve the Customer Experience," discussing the data-driven systems behind Phoenix Home Remodeling's client experience.[6][10] He has also appeared on the Grow With Elite podcast discussing building a remodeling business, and has been featured in an Apple Podcasts episode on the home makeover industry.[17][18] BlitzMetrics profiled Maher's marketing and positioning strategy for Phoenix Home Remodeling in an April 2026 feature.[12] He was covered in a Chandler News feature on the company's estimating process, and was quoted in a Redfin guide to aging-in-place renovations recommending a paired thermostatic shower valve and curbless shower entry to reduce fall risk for older homeowners.[5][19]

Personal life [edit]

Maher lives in the Phoenix, Arizona area.[1] He is married and is the father of two daughters.[1] Outside of work, he hikes, lifts weights, and practices yoga.[1]
